Conscious Creativity by Marcy Nelson-Garrison MA CPCC

Creating the life you want involves five basic elements:

Imagination
Heart and Meaning
Intention
Courage
Faith

All of the elements are necessary. The process itself is fluid and interactive. The elements weave together to create change.

Imagination
The artist is a master inventor, bringing to life something that did not exist before he or she imagined it. Like the artist, you must first imagine the life you want in order to create it. You are the inventor, you get to dream it into existence. No one else can dream it for you. Carl Sandburg said it simply, “Nothing unless first a dream”.

What do you want?
What do you yearn to create?
What are the urges at the edge of your conscious mind?

Heart and Meaning
Listening for what bubbles up from your soul, paying attention to what has heart and meaning is the basis for a deeply satisfying life. When your vision is rooted in what is most important to you, the motivation to keep moving towards it will be stronger. Creating what you want involves choices, many of them. Knowing what you value gives you a framework for those choices.

What do you value most in life?
What does your heart tell you?

Intention
The unfolding of your vision demands that you be conscious and intentional. You need to intend to achieve it. This means regular attention to where you are going. This is how you breathe life into the vision. Consistent action is essential. This is the paint being applied to the canvas, which will allow the vision to take shape.

Where are you putting your attention?
Are you conscious and intentional in the choices you are making?

Courage
Moving toward your vision will require a willingness to take risks and challenge the obstacles that show up along the way. An obstacle may take the form of a limiting belief that no longer serves you. It may also show up in its most common form, plain old-fashioned fear. It demands staying present, staying awake in the face of fear. When you fall asleep to your dreams and quit paying attention to the urges on the periphery of daily life, the world loses out on the unique contribution that only you can make.

What are you most afraid of?
What is the environment that would most nurture your dream?

Faith
There is a rightness when you set out on the path of your dream that the universe responds to. When you honor a calling, when you say yes to a possibility, synchronicity happens, doors open, opportunity shows up, what you need appears. Whether you call it divine intervention, grace or inspiration, when it happens it is magical! Watch for it!

What is the possibility you are ready to embrace?
What do you want to say YES to?
